I just installed freenas 9.2.0 on
Build FreeNAS-9.2.0-RELEASE-x64 (ab098f4)
Platform Intel(R) Pentium(R) CPU G3220 @ 3.00GHz
Memory 7849MB

Code:
*Updated* I'm using a Asus H81I-plus motherboard

Right out the gate logged in everything loaded instantly. Minutes later when I log in to the WebUI every click takes a minute. There are times when the left panel doesn't even load at all. All I ever see is loading...

I realized how bad it was when following a youtube tutorial on setting up my transmission and plex. Where at every click he made in the video I had to pause and wait. Don't get me started on the 5-10min install of plugins.

Anyone know why its this slow? The processor is quad core
I have 1x3TB WD Red Drive
and 3x1TB WD Green Drive

When it finally loads it looks like this
the left menu doubles and/or triples

I have an XBMC running on the same network 3 rooms away, when uploading or using that I get speeds of 85MB/s easily.
With the build in the above post im maxing out at 10Mb/s in file transfer. This build is 1 foot away from my router.

That's weird. Have you tried a different browser to see if the browser is the issue? Anything interesting on the local network (e.g. a proxy, VPN, some funky NAT rules)?

Now that you mention that I do have a VPN I will turn it off and see if things change
Code:
*Updated* Still no changes with VPN off. Check network adapter only connected on 1 network with 100Mbps.
I still get my downloads at 2MBps from torrents & Nzb
Tried Chromebook, firefox, chrome and even IE still same slow speed

If you are using wifi it is going to be very slow transferring files.

As for the slow GUI, what USB stick are you using? If you are using one that is really crappy the GUI will be very slow. What brand, model and size if you know them...

Its a Lexar 8GB from 2007 USB2.0 . If I set up again onto a faster usb it may change? say a usb 3.0 stick.

Lexar's aren't bad, but I wouldn't recommend someone buy one today.

USB3 won't be appreciably faster than USB2 as long as you aren't using a POS USB2.

I use Corsair Voyagers and I think they are perfect. As long as you aren't buying low end or non name-brand USB2 or USB3 you should be fine. USB3 doesn't speed up bootup times or anything, so don't buy USB3 for that.

Thanks

Would there be a way I can clone the drive?

Not really. Just install to the new USB stick and import your config file!

Is their any information i can post to help?

Appreciate the help.

Decided to build this thing as a christmas gift to myself. Didn't think it would take so much work.

The USB stick was to fix the WebGUI lag only.

Your 11MB/sec is going to be because you are getting only 100Mb connections.

If you are using Wifi, it's also going to suck(worse than 11MB/sec).

The new usb didn't change much in the webgui, still slow speed.

My main problem is transfer speed. I'm on an all wired network.

I would need a new router to speed things up?

If you are using 100Mb you will have slow speeds. You'll need to figure out yourself where the problem is. Could be a router, a cable, or a NIC.

As cyberjock said, you'll need to figure out where the problem lies.

If all of your network connections terminate to a 100Mb router, just add a gigabit ethernet switch behind it. Connect the switch to your router and plug your FreeNAS server and computers into the switch.

Added in a gigabit switch and now I'm getting speed of 90MBPS much better. Still Slow WebGUI

Did you try dlavigne's suggestion about using a different browser?

For example, if you are using IE try Firefox. If that doesn't work, tell us what browser/version number you tried.

Hi, I've recently updated to FreeNAS-9.2.0-RELEASE-x64and also have a slow GUI. A fast FreeNAS (afp/smb) but slow GUI. I'm on an N36L Microserver with 8GB and a decent higher end Transcend USB. I researched read/write speeds before purchase.

It's worth noting that this wasn't a problem on 9.1 RELEASE.

Thanks,

EA
