Should /etc/resolv.conf include /etc/hosts?

AFAICS you can put entries in /etc/hosts but FreeNAS ignores them.

How are you adding the hosts entries? If you're not using the GUI (Network -> Global Configuration -> Host name database), FreeNAS will override them.

Yes, I am talking about entries specified in the GUI and successfully added to /etc/hosts. Now I've looked into it further, FreeNAS does use /etc/hosts, it is just that nslookup doesn't. But maybe that doesn't matter. (It is actually AFP I am concerned about, but that is a whole other issue.) Maybe in FreeBSD not having a hosts file entry in resolv.conf doesn't matter. That is what I was asking really.
