Hi guys
I got a short problem concerning the sharing.
I got two users in freeNAS:
User1 (Server) - He got an ISCSI Access to his own drive (Drive3)
User2(Client) - He got a CIFS Access to his own drive(drive2)

My problem:
I can now connect the drive3 via ISCSI in my client.
But the problem is, that I got all rights (r/w/x).
How can I give just the read rights to the client?

Thanks and regards
neverbesuccessfull

You can't connect a single iscsi to multiple initiators unless the filesystem is cluster aware. NTFS is not.

yes, why else would we have the ability to set permissions on file shares?

Do you understand how file sharing works?
Not really.
What do I need to do to set a actual file sharing protocol, so that the multiple access to my iscsi target works?
Anyway thanks alot for your help, I really appreciate it

If you want to share files, you do NOT use ISCSI.

Why are you insistent on using ISCSI? Please explain your reasoning behind this.

If you want to share files with multiple clients and/or multiple OSes, use CIFS/SMB on the FreeNAS box.

It´s because I only now iSCSI for Serverdiscs.
Anyway so I have so setup the Server disc with CIFS?
At my server?
WHAT?

You only know how to serve ISCSI?

Is the FreeNAS documentation too difficult to read?

I don't really understand what you are trying to accomplish. Please read the FreeNAS document and understand what file sharing actually is.

Now I read that I should use NFS, like you said, for the multiple accessing or VMFS.
Can you send me some helpful links to get my wish in order?

Why NFS?

What exactly are you trying to do?

What OSes are involved?

What are the clients going to be doing on this share?

Details, dude. We need them.

I want that the clients can read the files from my ISCSI target

The OSes which are involved are the following:
Windows 7
Windows Server 2012
Debian

They just have to read the folders from the others.
So they just have the permission r

Yes it worked, 100% thanks.
Short question by the way:
If I have the volume in CIFS and iSCSI, the Server can see both of them.
Can i hide the CIFS disc for the Server itself? Because the Server disc is the same as the cifs disc.
By the way thank you! I know I´m an idiot and you help me alot

You aren't listening to me.

You can't Share iscsi. There is no "CIFS disk".

Please explain your configuration and what you want to accomplish

I got three discs:
1st disk is called "disc1" and is reachable with ISCSI (Windows Server 2012)
2nd disk is called "disc2" which is reachable with CIFS (Win 7)
3rd disk is called "disc1" which is reachable with CIFS (win7)
Now you see the disc1 from the 3rd disc shouldn´t be available for the Server 2012, so I want to hide it.

Is there any possibilities?

I have no idea what any of this means.

HOW ARE YOUR DISKS CONFIGURED IN FREENAS? NOT THE SHARES, BUT THE ACTUAL DISKS.

It seems you do not have any idea what I am asking here, but it is quite simple. Show me screenshots of your volume configuration, and your datasets, then screenshots of your shares. Nothing you are saying makes any sense.

Why on earth would you create individual volumes with single disks?
