SGPIO to I2C on Supermicro Mobile Bay

Yesterday, I ordered a 5-drive Mobile Bay (CSE-M35QT) and a new case for my X9SRH-7TF. The backplane supports SGPIO or I2C reporting interfaces, which I want to use. However, the motherboard has 8-pin SGPIO ports, and the drive bay has two 4-pin ports on opposite ends of the backplane. I want to make sure I have the correct cable, but the Supermicro cable I find is an 8 to 8 pin cable. I'd love some insight from others who may have that drive bay or general insight.

Taking a further look at the interface, there is an 8-pin "sideband connector" on the board. Not sure if that has anything to do with it.
