Hello All,
I've had my FreeNAS box up and running for around 6 years now. Everything has worked great and the machine has been extremely stable. (My record uptime is about 5 days short of 2 years.) Yesterday I started seeing this error. "SCSI sense: ILLEGAL REQUEST asc:21,0 (Logical block address out of range)" I've searched the forums and some of the answers have pointed to PSU but since this is 1 drive specifically I find that to be a bit of a strange solution. I have a 8x 4tb Z2 raid on a xeon processor with 32gb of ECC ram. My machine is an offline only machine. I do not use any jails or any advance features other than SMB/FTP.
I have yet to swap any drives and the error only seems to happen every couple hours. I've shutdown the machine, double checked that all power cables are properly connected to the back plane and I removed all drives and reseated them to make sure everything is connecting properly. It booted back on with no issues and the system no longer shows any alerts. I've yet to see the error come back but I thought I would see what the community things before continuing.
