Scrub Free Space

Is there a way to "scrub" unused space in a volume?

Altough scrub is very smart by only checking used space, I would like to check the free space, as a "preventive maintenance" of the disks.

No.

Setup some SMART long tests or select,N-M if for some reason long isn't doing a surface scan. I would do them at least monthly and not more then weekly.

I do a scrub on the 1st and 15th of every month and a long test on the 7th and 21st.
