Hello All,

First here is the link to the build I am looking at.
https://forums.freenas.org/index.php?threads/my-hardware-plan-any-suggestions.44179/

The mother board I am looking at is Supermicro X10SL7-F it has 2x sata3 ports and 4x sata 2 ports and 8 SAS2 ports. My question is can i run my main array on on the SAS2 ports? It will be 6 WD RED 5400rpm drives? also all I can find is breakout cables, is there any bottlenecks running a breakout cable from one SAS2 port to 4 drives and another SAS2 port to the remaining drives? Is there simple SAS2 to sata cable that is not a breakout? any help on which breakout (or non breakout) SAS2 to sata cables would be much appreciated.

I am pretty sure this is my cable I need?

I plan on running the freenass boot on a sata 2 port and a mirrored SSD array on the two SATA3 ports for my jails.

Any issues or suggestions before I pull the trigger on this? Thanks in advance.

thank you I was not aware a sas2 port had the same connection as a sata cable. So Regular sata 3 cables will suffice and fit into the SAS2 ports, thank you.
