Hello everybody!

I guess it is a dumb question but I got know for sure. I got a LSI 2008 controller, it have two external ports, so what I think: There is a way to plug two FreeNAS servers with a external SAS cable? So maybe I can setup one with the disks of both machines?

My problem is that, FreeNAS is wonderful BUT if I use a single machine theres a limit of how many disks I can put inside it, the Volume will get full and we will run out of space in any way, right? So how can I use FreeNAS and after it run out of space how can will be able to expand it?

Thanks in advance!

Hi Fellipe,

The external ports are for attaching disk expansion shelves or JBODs (Just a Bunch Of Drives) to your existing server; there's no provisions for connecting two FreeNAS servers to each other via SAS cabling.
