SAS HBA passthrough to jail

Hello,

my knowledge about jails is still quite limited so sorry if this is a dumb question.

Is there a way to passthrough a SAS HBA to a jail? I would like to run a tape based backup application inside of a jail, but for this the jail would need access to a SAS HBA to which two LTO tape drives are connected.

It's not a passthrough, since it's the same kernel. You have to give the jail permission to use the devices in question.

You should look into the devfs_ruleset and mount_devfs properties of a jail.
