In /usr/local/etc there was smb4.conf and smb4.conf.save or smb4.confsave. I can't recall which now. A few days ago I setup some shares on 3 Ubuntu pcs, and to do it I created a new section for smb4conf and smb4.conf save, called SharedMedia, with the correct path etc.
Today, my Frenas server was shutdown without warning, and after a short while it booted back up ok.
Since the reboot, the new section I created in smb4.conf has disappeared and the actual smb4.confsave file has also disappeared.
Hence all the shares I had on 3 ubuntu machines had dissappeared as well
I have now added the new SharedMedia section back into smb4.conf. , and the shares are also back.
Anyone know why it happened.
