Hi
I'm new to TrueNAS Scale. I got my first install done last weekend and it went pretty smoothly I thought. I was able to get pools, datasets and shares going and even had successfully copied a few gigs of test data around. Occasionally I saw some weird Samba behavior from my Mac when trying to use the shares on TrueNAS. But yesterday things went south pretty bad and I could no longer copy files from my macs to the SMB shares on TrueNAS. The finder would start to copy and then just freezeup in an unrecoverable way. I was never able to get that copy process to end once it was frozen.
I really like a lot of what I'm seeing in TrueNAS and hope to be able to use it. Do you have any suggestions about what might be wrong here? Is Samba a bit buggy still? Maybe I configured something incorrectly? Is there a set of steps to follow for creating the SMB shares?
My computers are able to talk to my 10 year old Synology NAS over Samba with no issue and have been doing so for years so I don't think it is the mac samba config.
I'm running the latest stable RC of TrueNAS as of last week. Well I was running it. My system is hosed now, while I was trying to install OMV on another disk for testing purposes something corrupted the bootloader on the drive where I had TrueNAS installed. So I can't tell you the specific ... Oh wait, the ISO says it is 22.02-RC.1-2.
The mobo is an Asrock B550 Taichi
32 Gigs of ECC RAM
AMD Ryzen 7 5800X
Any suggestions on how to configure Samba to work correctly?
Also any ideas on how to recover the bootloader so I don't have to do a complete reinstall?
Thanks, Derek
