S.M.A.R.T smartd failed to start.

I am on version:
BuildFreeNAS-9.3-STABLE-201506292130

I upgraded when alerted to a few months back.

After the upgrade I got a alert "smartd failed to start"
I have deleted my scheduled smart tasks. rebuilt them.
I have been unable to start the smart service.

If dumbd is running smartd can't start. :D

I noticed that as well on the latest nightly. Please create a bug report at bugs.freenas.org and post the issue number here. In the bug report, include your smart error entries from /var/log/messages.

Restarts just fine in my case on 201506292130, so I'd say it isn't a repeat of May's smartd problem. At least not the 256 character limit.

Well I need some way to monitor the hard drives. I can't have this thing go down! The alert is smartd faild to start and I am unable to start the smart service.

I'd suggest you open it and then post the link here.

Include the messages and your smartd.conf file (feel free to replace the email address with XXXXXX to keep it private).
