Are you sure?.. Did you write a delete command from a source with no files? I guess recycle bin wont help here..

Ya. I'm sure.

I was running a test to make sure rsync would transfer with the correct permissions. So I setup a test folder that I could play with but a misconfiguration cause the server with the data to delete all its data.

I need to recover this data

Yeah. if it's deleted it's gone.

Edit: If it's ZFS, it's gone. If its UFS there are some program you can buy to do data recovery. But I wouldn't hold my breath on a high degree of success.

Unfortunately there are no recovery tools to run on ZFS.. If the data is gone it'll be truly gone.. The only thing I can think of is if you had used CIFS shares and files got moved to the recycling bin on pool? What command did you run?

I used the web interface to setup the rsync. Its funny. I was going to used rsync to sync these two servers together so they would be each others backed up. Now there is nothing.

That is 10 years of all my media

Currently I'm not sure how I should feel

Hmm.. Well not to throw gas on the fire but always run dry-runs first using (-n) when testing.. Many of us feel your pain..

-n, --dry-run perform a trial run with no changes made
