Hey all, I got some advice on my build months ago but the build got stalled due to other projects needing $
Wanted your opinion on motherboard options
Intended use: Low power media hub (movie/music) & personal cloud
Case: Cooler master elite 120
PSU: Corsair CX 430M 430W
CPU: Intel i3-4130T Haswell 35W
HDD: 2x 3TB WD Red
All i need at this point is the ram and mobo
Option 1:
MoBo: ASROCK C226M WS $169
RAM: Apacer Tech 8GB DDR3-1600MHz ECC $159 OR Transend 8GB ddr3-1600MHz ECC $135
Option 2:
MoBo: SUPERMICRO MBD-X10SLL-F-O $168
RAM: HYNIX 8GB DDR3-1600MHz ECC $99
Any big trade off between C226 and C222 chipsets?
Only things jumping out at me:
ASROCK C226 has all 6 SATA ports @ 6.0Gbps but... what's the point if my HDD run at 5400 rpm?
ASROCK has useless audio hardware that'll be sucking power for years
ASROCK has a 3yr parts&labor warranty vs Supermicro's 1yr parts/3yrs labor
Supermicro's tested ram will save me ~120 bucks for 16GB
Leaning towards Option 2 unless there is a real performance difference.
Cheers!
