Requesting "How-To" guide for Installing software on FreeNAS

1) "ethtool" is not installed on FreeNAS.
=> What is the easier way to get it installed?

2) After downloading ethtool, I receive an error regarding the C compiler not having a library or resource to create an executable.
=> Is this due to not having the correct compiler and/or not using a jail?
**New to being a power-user on FreeBSD and FreeNAS.**

I would greatly appreciate any help on this because my googlings led me nowhere of significance or clear process to implement (1) and (2) on FreeNAS

You aren't supposed to install stuff to the FreeNAS OS. This is covered well here on the forums. You should use a jail if you want extra software installed...
