Replication causing DNS lookup every couple of seconds

I am running FreeNAS-11.3-U2 (no encrypted disks) that replicates 3 datasets every 12 hours to an endpoint on the Internet. The replication is using the legacy method.

I also have a Pi-hole running in my network. The Pi-hole reports around 350 DNS lookups per hour from the FreeNAS box to this endpoint.

Is this expected behavior?
