Just to start off, I am getting an warning in FREENAS
WARNING: Firmware version 15 does not match driver version 20 for /dev/mps0. Please flash controller to P20 IT firmware.

While replacing a drive that was giving me critical errors with a new ST2000NM0011, I am faced with the new drive showing up as only 4GB. I tried to wipe it and that didn't do anything.

Stuck.

The error for versioning is due to the driver and firmware being a package set and should match to work correctly.

Did you correctly mark the drive for removal in the GUI or did you think that the command line was how to do it or was it just a swap? May also suggest reading some forum rules and doing some searches and updating your post. Also have to ask if you did a smart test on the drive before trying to add it into the pool and check your cables/swap them.

You may also want to do a zpool status.
