replace 8.3 screensaver with anything else

Hi,

anyone know of a way to edit or replace the freenas 8.3 screensaver
I would prefer black screen of just the freenas 8 text

This is not supported out of the box. You would have to modify system files - Google for changing the Screensaver in FreeBSD. You can disable the screensaver from the GUI, though.

The majority of users run their FreeNAS systems headless anyway.

I run a freeNas box and a dedicated Windows based jRiver Media Server both connected to a NEC LCD monitor
for the most part its not an issue except when it is (media server in power saving mode).
The devil bouncing up and down the screen is scary to my kids so my current solution is to disable the screen saver.
so thats my motive.
