BUILD Recommend me a build?

I'm looking to build a simple freenas machine that will have 1 or 2 2tb drives and mainly be used for plex server, sabnzbd,sickbeard or nzbdrone, and simple server based stuff like file storage.

I know next to nothing about Linux and am looking to go amd route if it will be cheaper. I'd also love to buy most parts at micro center but open to elsewhere.


Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Also if someone can point me to a good step by step to get this all setup, kind off like for a dummies guide since this is uncharted territory for me. Though I do know windows very well

a) FreeNAS is FreeBSD, not Linux

b) The stickies in the forum have enough information for you to digest in a first stage. The ever popular build check threads also give you a general idea of what's popular (in other words, wha's known to work). I'd start with Cyberjock's guide:
