Hi ,

I am trying to put together hardware configuration for FREENAS using SuperMicro .

I am looking for guidance of which system to buy , there are lots of SuperMicro Systems and have no idea which is which (Not well versed in SuperMicro HW).

- Around 16TB of usable disk space (Prefer Mirror for performance considerations).
- Memory minimum of 128GB , 1 ssd for Read Cache, 1 ssd for ZIL.
- I need to buy 2 identical HW , 1 for production , 1 for DR (replica of Production).
- 2 x 10GB NICs
- NAS will be used 50% NFS , 50% CIFS

Appreciate your feedback

Thanks

It would probably be helpful if you'd specify the usecase A LOT more in detail.

- That 16TB usable diskspace - is that what YOU intend to use, or what is commonly referred to as "usable space". I ask this because you state "performance considerations" as argument for mirrors.

Going by your *stated* requirements, looks like a good fit for a Xeon-D system. See the Supermicro X10SDV-7TP4F (8-core 1.7Ghz) and the X10SDV-4C-TLN4F (4-core 2.2Ghz half the price of the first).
But as Dice said, you might want to give us some more details about your use-case. You might under/overestimate your needs.

The NAS will be used as File server (CIFS/NFS)

- I will use around 5~6 TB as CIFS shares.

- Another 5~6TB as NFS mount for 6 redhat Linux (6/7) Database servers. The NFS will be for daily DB backups..

- Will run data snap every 6 hours and replication schedule right after snap schedule.

I figured to go with Mirror for better performance in addition to (Max memory , Read SSD, Write SSD)

I would like to get the particular super micro that fit what I am looking for.. I don't want to build server from multiple components..
