Ever since upgrading to 9.2.1, when I try to run an executable file on the server I get the following error message:

"Windows cannot access the specified path or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item."

So what I have to do is to change the security setting of the file. But this is cumbersome if I have to do this for all files. Is there a setting somewhere that can I set to change this behavior? TIA

Same problem here with guest user using UNIX. I seem to be able to run MSI files, but no EXE files, getting the same message as gearhead.

Any ideas?

You guys, DLavigne's question is still valid. Are you using Unix, or Windows ACLs? We *know* you're using Windows to access the files, we're talking about the ACLs on the FreeNAS side.

Yes, still using Unix ACLs. I use windows and Linux to access the shares. However from a Windows PC I can not execute any exe files after the upgrade.

I had the same issue. I was using anonymous access with Unix ACL's and tried switching to Windows ACL's which mad no difference. Then adjusted permissions from the Windows client to allow full access and issue was resolved.

Once you've set the ACL's in FreeNAS to Windows just right click the folder on your Windows PC and go to Security to change the permissions.

I had Windows ACL activated and had problems. To solve it I followed @kirkboh suggestion.
