I've not read the thread in whole, but I'll just relate that I had very similar if not identical behavior on my system. I have an LianLi PC-Q25B, which has a built in SATA backplane, and a SeaSonic SS-300ET (OEM model). Extracting a drive worked fine, plugging it back in sometimes caused one or two other drives to drop momentarily. I think (I cannot remember off the top of my head) that the backplane has 2 or 3 power connections which it shares between all the drives. I'm not sure if it has any inrush limiting circuitry on it, but I can't recall seeing any. I didn't troubleshoot too much, I just decided that I wouldn't be hotplugging on this system, and put a sticky note inside the case to remind me of that if I ever open it while it's running.

Some details about my experience can be found in this thread: http://forums.freenas.org/index.php...t-plug-recovery-etc-raidz2-test-config.12945/
