Good Day Everyone,

I installed FreeNas a couple days ago. I have a couple volumes setup and have all my data transferred from my old NAS. I am attempting to use plugins/jails for the first time but none of them are accessible. I have setup a lagg interface since and can ping the jail ip address but when I browse to them (owncloud, emby and transmission) none of them display their page. I can telnet to port 80 on their IPs and get a "connection refused" message as if the service is not listening. I have done some light searching but haven't found anything that looks like the issue I am having.

Thanks your your input in advance!

I have an enterprise grade switch that supports LACP. I turned it on to help with concurrent transfers because I am a heavy NAS user.

You might want to read up on lagg/LACP on FreeNAS. It doesn't do a thing for you if you are only a couple of clients.

I also use lagg and need to do the following to give a new jail network access.
  1. Edit Jail > VIMAGE=Off & NIC = lagg0
  2. Restart Jail

I managed to get them working. It I guess the plugins don't have their services enabled and started by default. Once I consoled into the jails and enabled the services they lit right up. Josh I do have a question though, what does VIMAGE do? I left it checked on 2 of the Jails but I don't really notice any difference in the operation from the other jails.

Thanks for all of your help!

you don't need to enable the services from the console. That's what the Plugins > Installed tab is for.

But.. glad you got it working regardless!

Touche...I didn't know that existed. I thought that was a bit more complicated than it was supposed to be.

FWIW I just installed Emby and it may be that it is supposed to work out of the box upon install (I also tried stopping and restarting the Emby service via the FreeNAS web interface) but it didn't and I needed to follow the steps that you outlined Matthew, so thank you for them.
