I was able to import all meta data from my previous plex to get posters and related data to show but any new titles I add do not update. It will go through the motions and act like its fetching data and states that information will continue to download in the background but it never does.

If you check your plex logs, are you seeing errors like this?

This looks like there could be some sort of file/directory ownership/permission issue.

I finally fixed it.

It had nothing to do with networking.

The plex "configuration" directory is /usr/local/plexData/Plex\ Media\ Server. I had mounted my media library (with no write premission) to /usr/local/plexData/Plex\ Media\ Server/Media but that directory is already used by Plex to store metadata, so the metadata was downloading but not able to be saved.

I'm having problems with transcoding and wondering if ./media is the wrong directory within the jail to save my media library to.

I am having the same concern, but have tried moving my mount point a few times with no resolve. Is your Plex still working? I can not resolve artwork meta data and only a few of my media actually will play

Thank you! I started with a fresh install of 11.2 Release as my USB drives tanked (now have ssd!). I was not getting any metadata on my hundreds of titles, but adding my LAN subnet to the Network as directed above fixed this for me!!

I had that problem with 11.1U4 and this fixed it for me.
Make sure to add to Server/Network/List of IP addresses and networks that are allowed without auth to your subnet for example 192.168.5.0/24 to allow metadata to be downloaded.

I just migrated from a warden jail to iocage a couple of days ago. I've been having the same issue - my new media will play in plex, but the metadata/posters will not download. Adding my ip/subnet (192.168.1.0/24) to IP addresses and networks that are allowed without auth did the trick! Thank you for the tip!
