I am having a similar symptom as this: https://forums.freenas.org/index.php?threads/plex-no-media-server.42007/

I cannot get to the welcome screen and claim the server and attach it to my account. When i navigate to the ip:32400/web - it takes me to a sign in page, and then goes to the looking for servers page. server tab is missing in settings. same as in the thread above.

Server:
24gb ram 2xe5530, running off a 16gb flash drive, with 3x 600gb raid drives. Dell C6100 chassis.

Things tried:
Freenas version: i have tried 11.1-u5, and also 11.0-u4. Neither makes a difference. I have also tried to install it on a different esxi server, and same result.

I have also tried to install it using both methods: installing plex using the plugin as well as creating my own jail, and installing via ssh.

Network: the freenas server ip is usually around 50.50.1.220 to 50.50.1.225; the jailed plex address is usually set to between 50.50.1.115-119; I am trying to access the IP from various laptops, desktops, and VM's all on the same subnet, with ip's in the 50.50.1.1-50.50.1.99 range.

tried to playing around with VIMAGE and NAT settings, did not make a difference.

I cannot figure out the location of the preferences.xml file, and have not played with this option yet.

Thoughts:

At this point, i dont know if its an issue with my install or the network?
my network is simple, ddwrt router/wirelessAP to a linksys smart switch, and everything is hooked up into it. only use subnet 50.50.1.0/24

Appreciate the help!

Yes, i will be changing it back to 10.10.1.0/24 shortly. I had some IP conflicts when changing up my lab and servers and so its temporarily set to 50.50.1.0/24, till i get everything sorted out. I could set it back to 10.10.1.0/24 if that is my issue?

@garm - You are awesome, this indeed was the issue, once i set my subnet back to 10.10.1.0/24, i was able to connect to the server. I never noticed this issue before as previously when i has setup the plex it was always on 10.10.1.0/24.

Now, is a temporary work around available for this so i can use 50.50.1.0/24? I am not ready to go back to 10.10.1.0/24 for probably another month or so.

Just use another range like 10.10.2.0/24 ? Or 10.0.0.0/24. Or 192.168.0.0/24. See the previously referenced page for all the available subnets.
