Hi,
what was done:
new build - 9.2.1.7 x64.
New zfs volume - owner "user", owner group "user". Permission type "Windows / Mac ACL"
ZFS dataset "dataset1" - owner "user", owner group "user". Permission type "Windows / Mac ACL"
Cifs share "share" on "dataset1", with default share options.
Problem:
Some users (Win7 x64) browse for "share1", enter "user" credentials, can create, delete, rename everything. BUT they cannot change permissions of files or folders or share itself. When trying to change permissions, they get "enter network credentials" dialogue. By entering "user" credentials (owner of dataset), they get nothing, users of FreeNAS do not populate in a list. By entering root user credentials, they get user list and can do changes.
Tried cleaning credential store, reset tcp/ip stack, reser winsock - didn't help. Permission setting worked correctly in our premises when setup was made. Now I have VPN'ed into a network with few machines, and everything was ok - enter share - give "user" credentials, can do permission changes. How to troubleshoot this?
Thank You in advance.

Try setting permissions from a shell (chmod). Which user "owns" new files or folders? I had a similar problem where permissions weren't set correctly from the GUI, but it worked from a shell.
