Hi guys

I'm quite new to FreeNAS so bear with me :)

First, i created a user "user1" that belongs to a group "users"

I then created a dataset called "Morten" - my name. Under Permissions i set the Owner (User) to nobody and the Owner (Group) "users" I also set the Permission Type to Mac.

Then i created the Windows share and pointed it to my dataset called "Morten" The Apply Default Permissions has been checked.

When I via my Mac try to moun the share i get a "There was a problem connecting to the server IP"

I have another share called Media which works fine when i connect as a Guest. I'm not sure what i'm doing wrong.

Thank you.

Did you check the "Browsable to Network Clients" and "Allow Guest Access" boxes under the Windows [SMB] share settings for Morten? I've never used a Mac, so also verify the VFS objects under the Morten share match those of the Media share (or any other share that you're able to access successfully).
  • I've never assigned a dataset owner to the nobody user, so is the Media dataset also set to nobody for user ownership? If not, that could also be the issue.
