Open /var/log/messages in new or separate browser window

It would be nice to have an option to open the log viewer in a new or separate browser window. That way when changes were being made in the GUI you could more easily see the commands and history. It would also be nice to have and option to choose which logs you wanted to look at with an added option to save to log to the local machine as a text file.
