NTP health check failed - No Active NTP peers

Hi,

I am running TrueNAS Scale on a Dell T620 and I am getting the following notifications from the system frequently:

NTP health check failed - No Active NTP peers: [{'192.168.178.44': 'REJECT'}]

The notice does go away after a while but comes up again at random times.

Since the NTP server is in the local network with no firewalling whatsoever, and all my other devices do not have this problem connecting to the NTP server, I do suspect the problem lies somewhere within TrueNAS SCALE.

How to troubleshoot this issue ?

Best regards,

Rick

Make sure CMOS time is set to UTC time, not local time.

Thank you for your reply. Just wondering here what influence the CMOS time has to NTP.

Upon boot up the system time is initialized to the CMOS clock. If CMOS clock is set to local time, when the NTP daemon tries to sync with a NTP server, when the time offset is greater than 1000 seconds, it will not sync with the NTP server.

ah, ok, well, this is not the case. And, as I mentioned earlier, this happens on and off, so it does sync, just not always.
