Greatz,

I'm new to the FreNAS project. Hev downloaded FreeNAS 9.1.1 x64Bit version en run it from an USB stick on one old Asus Mainboard whit QuadCore CPU and 4GB RAM. Everiting seams to be working OK but by loading HDD trougt ZFS ot UFS Volume Manager seams to be imposible to add disks as a volume. Have two SATA 500GB and two SATA 640GB disks. All 4 disks arevisible but I can't load them into FreeNAS.

More info in added screen shots

Anny help is useful

Kind regards

Hi Stuj@,

Turn off the RAID functions of the controller first, see if that changes anything.

The zfs creation tool in 9.1.1 really doesn't like making pools out of different-sized drives. Keep this in mind. Personally I just boot 8.3.1 when I need to make a pool out of drives that aren't *exactly* the same make & size.

Hi Will,

Thanks foor your information. The drive's are not on an RAID controller directli attached to the mainboard sata controller withouth RAID function in a BIOS. There is also an RAID controller on PCI bus but wen the drives are attached toe them is the problem the same!. I mean there are two SATA WD 500GB drives and two SATA WD 640GB. It must be possible to make two mirrored volums / pools. One of 500GB and one of 640GB. But....... ?!? Thanks for info about different-sized; not exactly make & size drives. Have also 4 750GB drives of WD Caviar SATA drives gona prob this with them also. Also gona change fisikly the system pull out the RAID controller to chek of it wil work and of it wil work if I use set of two drives

Kind regards
