WAIT … I think I got it. I had the dynamic DNS service running (one of the things I did messing about testing things). When I stop it it seems to work again! Thanks everyone.

Star over and set a static IP that's OUTSIDE of your DHCP range. All you need for internet access is an IP, subnet mask, default router (gateway), and DNS servers.
