As the title suggests I just want to change one drive for another - nothing has failed.

Is this the proper way to do this and resilver:

Select "Offline" for the drive I want to remove.
Shut down
Replace the drive with the new one (If that 'new' drive has been used or formatted before make sure it is wiped clean)
Restart the system
Go to the Pool and look for the 'New' drive under "Volume Status" and click on "Replace"
Do a scrub afterwards.

Basically is that it?

No need to do a scrub afterwards, the replace does a resilver which is virtually the same as a scrub.

Did I read somewhere that when you substitute the replacement drive (and it has been used / formatted before) that FreeNAS 8 will reformat it for you in a future version?
