Newbie with freenas

Hope you sifu's can help out with this question.

i'm currently building a freenas box, and i have 4x2tb hdds, 2 of them currently have data on them, i'm planning to run it on a JBOD configuration at the moment because i dont have anywhere to move the data out so that i can raid the drives.

my question is, when i import the volumes which contains the data on freenas, will it be the drives be formatted\wiped?

How are your drives with data partitioned/formatted/What filesystem?

single partition with NTFS.

If you follow the workaround in the Unofficial FAQ in my signature you should be fine (Question #28). Currently importing from the GUI is still broken/doesn't work, but if you follow the workaround it will work from the GUI. I don't know what level of support FUSE has with NTFS on FreeBSD. I tested creating a simple file on an imported NTFS volume and it worked, but I'd be cautious about doing write activity just to be safe, reading/copying should be fine. I'm just not 100% certain how safe writing is.
