Hello. Im a newbie who has some understanding about computer systems, but have never attempted to setup nas.

I'm running latest x64 freenas on quite old p4 with 2gb ram. So far everythings good, I managed to get working transmission, ftp, smb and subsonic, BUT.....both plugins stop working after system reboot. Sometimes they cannot start, sometimes shows up as running, but cannot access them.

What could be the problem? And how to deal with it?

I didn't know they had 64bit capable P4 processors. 2GB is not enough ram, this likely is causing, and will continue to plague your system with issues.

- do the plugins show as stopped?
- what happens when you run 'service subsonic start' in the subsonic jail's command line?

How can that be? if everything is running smooth and problems arise only AFTER system reboot.

Did you read our hardware requirements? Either you are ignoring the documentation we've already written or haven't read it. If you are already ignoring us you shouldn't be here asking for help because we already have the sense you will ignore whatever we say, if you don't like it will ignore it.

Those minimums are because there have been so many documented cases that were isolated down to insufficient RAM it's just not worth our effort to even bother to help someone that isn't even trying to help themselves.

Hate to be the buzzkill, but that's the cold hard facts. Nobody here is paid to help in the forums, so if you can't show you are helping yourself to some extent before asking for help, nobody here will take you seriously.

yes, ive read requirements, but usually you can keep running system under certain parameters, even below minimal specs. i guess this is one of rare cases when its does not run OK :D

Yeah, our minimums are very strict minimums. Unlike others that people ignore, you ignore ours and the consequences are disasterous. Most pros just close the browser tab when they see someone without the minimum specs, myself included. Of course, that means you're going to get tough love, and probably no answer telling you otherwise. But we get so many requests and as nobody is paid to support the forums you get what you get for the price you paid for entrance. ;)

Eh, he'll be back in a few weeks asking why his jails/plugins suddenly won't turn on and we'll ignore him since he's clearly decided to ignore us.
