Hi - I've installed FreeNAS on a Mac Pro 5.1 having literally only found out about the software yesterday, so you could say I'm a noob.

Installation from USB went fine, the Mac boots, I've configured ipv4 and it gives me the thumbs up but I can't log in to the GUI. I've done some searches online and here but I'm a bit stuck.

To give as much info as I can, ifconfig shows en0 is active and inet has the GUI ip. I can ping it from another machine on my network but a browser login attempt it says connection refused.

Could it be to do with my router as the Freenas machine's Mac address doesn't show in the list of connected devices?

Not sure what I need to do to get it working, any advice would be great.

Connection refused sounds like you are trying to connect through http but https is enabled. Just confirm you are typing in the GUI address exactly as it's displayed on the Mac Pro's menu.

thanks for the reply. I get the refused error in Brave (chrome), in Safari is get a regular can't connect to server error. I entered "http://192.168.1.1" which is the web user interface it gives me on the MacPro, but also tried using https, and just the ip alone

Its OK I solved it... I reset the config to default, rebooted and used the default settings it gave me. I followed the guide here and went through the Configure Network Interfaces steps, but looks like I shouldn't have done. Defaults are working and I can log it to the GUI!

Have to say I'm amazed really. Aside from the noob user error, it installed on a Mac Pro first time...
