Need help resolving ureadable/uncorrectable sectors error on iSCSI target drive

Every 30 mins. I am seeing the following error/informational messages as they apply to one of two 1 TB drives that I have configured as iSCSI targets:

smartd[1190]: Device: /dev/ad6, 41 Currently unreadable (pending) sectors
smartd[1190]: Device: /dev/ad6, 41 Offline uncorrectable sectors

How do I resolve this issue or is it something that is relatively trivial as they are just informational messages and can be disregarded?

Sounds like you have a disk with some errors on it. If you value your data, back it up and replace the disk. Has the number been increasing?

Fortunately, no. It has been holding steady at 41 for at least several months now.

I amend my advice to "If you value your data, back it up and run the vendor's disk diagnostics tool." If it's a stable situation, it'll likely be able to remap the bad blocks and life will go back to being good.
