I install Freenas on a ESXi virtual server. The configuration is 16VCPU & 32GB memory。 There are about 20 client server to connect it. But the system often stop running about 1 weeks. I fount the NFS service is still running but CIFS had stopped and also the web console can't be opened. Does any configuration can be setted to resolve this ?

First, you will want to drop vCPU to 1. Then increase as necessary (I.e. if the VM is always CPU bound, add 1, repeat until it isn't CPU bound).

If you have 16 assigned, it won't get CPU time until 16 cores are free at the same time. ESXi holds up all processing for the VM until the number of cores assigned are free.

I saw 150% performance increase dropping my vCPU from 3 to 1. With 20 clients you may need a more than I do, but not 16.

Also do not assign more vCPUs to any VM than there are physical cores.

Thank you first. You said give me a way about this problem. In my environment, i also have other freenas server, but it run normally with only 4 vcpu.I thought the reason is less clients in the past, but you said maybe the other way. i will try it
