novice i know, but im trying to edit some of my MP3's in mp3tag, ive used this lots in the past but not much for the last few months/years. Problem is when saving the changes i get this error.

I can open the files and play them fine, i can see the current file/track info all fine, its just when i save.

Ive check the files/folders using putty and they have "drwxrwxr-x 4 root Media" permissions where im logged into the share as a user which is a member of the "Media" group. I can write to the folders in question and made changes to the file names which i assume confirms i have read/write access.

Any one please shed some light or tell me why im getting this error and hopefully how to sort it please.

Are you using Unix permissions with CIFS? If so, don't do that.

[Storage] - [Volume Manager]; Select/Highlight the DataSet then Click "Edit Options" to see the "Share type":

No need to destroy the dataset. You might want to untick / tick the box "apply default permissions" in your share config. This will make sure that your permissions are in a default / sane state before you go about fine-tuning them.

yay, thanks. all working now, so it seems anyway, no errors. hopefully a few other insignificant permission issues that have been bugging me for a while, will be sorted. I didnt expect it to be a difficult issue, just one i needed to learn.
cheers
