Moving primary pool and system dataset location

I'm moving my primary pool to new server and keeping my backup pool on old server. Do I detach first or should I first change system dataset location to backup pool and then detach my primary?

Were you able to figure this out?

I detached it first to make sure that it flushes whatever it needs while system data set was still on primary.
