Try forcing the import by doing

Code:
zpool -f import

I forgot where exactly you put the
Code:
-f
but try putting it in the import command.

Won't work without at least one of the missing drives.

What USB cable?

Please give us detailed specs on your replacement machine. How are the disks connected?

First of all, how much RAM do you have in your Asus motherboard? You want to ensure you have 8GB RAM if you are going to use FreeNAS for troubleshooting, even if it appears to work fine with less.

Next, stop trying to import using the -f parameter. Way too many people jump to this and can cause more damage. First lets check out your hard drives and ensure they are healthy. Run a SMART Short test (takes about 2 minutes) and check the status, if all looks good, run a SMART Long test (take generally 2+ hours). If that looks good then you can move forward on the troubleshooting.

The next steps would be to identify exactly which drives (by serial number) are working and which are not. For the drives that are failing to work, how are they failing is the question? Are they not seen at all by the system, in which you wouldn't be able to run a SMART test on them, or does it look fine and can communicate fine but maybe you data is gone. The Hard Drive Troubleshooting Guide will tell you how to run the SMART tests (link in my signature).

You could have a real issue, that being two hard drives that have failed or corrupt data.

So, all your SMART tests looked good. Next time, please post the serial numbers of the drives or at least the last 4 digits. It will help us keep things straight.

What is the output of "gpart show" and "zpool import" and "dmesg"? I'm asking you to do this again.

So this does not make sense. Why are your drives looking like they are corrupt? They should look at least only as bad as the first posting but they appear to have gotten worse. Did you do something with the drives like plug them into some other operating system? I'm a bit confused but my initial thought was that all your data was lost and now I'm almost 100% possitive its gone. You should consider running badblocks on your hard drives (Warning - Destructive) and rebuilding your pool and lastly to restore your backups.

Wish I could be of more help but if the GPT tables are hosed up...

Okay, last ditch effort if you don't have a backup copy... Run the UBUNTU Live CD and try to mount the pool. Ubuntu also has ZFS in it and you might have a Hail Mary here. You will need to do a few searches on how to mount a ZFS pool in Ubuntu but if there is a will, they you should be able to do it. If youare able to recover from this, I'd appreciate hearing about it.

These read and seek error rates make me think the disks are dead. Plus there was no smart tests executed on them except for the ones run in this thread.

Hi aymen,

What happened during these 3 years ? What did you do with the drives ? With the system ? After 3 years sitting on a tablet, many hard drive will freeze in position and will not spin anymore...

From what you posted and people already told you, it looks like you lost 2 drives from a single RaidZ1 vDev. A pool is not meant to survive such a loss. Considering that you survived 3 years without that pool, you probably can now accept its loss and go with whatever you have now, learning in the process how fragile RaidZ1 is and how critical backups are.

Wow, it's been a long time since this thread was written to. @aymen we just assumed you fixed your problem since the thread basically died after our last responses. If you still are having a problem, you might want to start all over, explain what the system hardware is, the version of FreeNAS, and exactly any problems you are having. I'd also ensure you run some burn-in testing to ensure the system is stable. Best of luck to you.
