Had a FreeNAS 8 box that has run perfectly for years and I'm upgrading because of space. Bought a complete system from a bloke on craigslist and it's being totally wonky. Won't stay up for more than a couple hours, when I can get the bloody thing to boot at all. All of the hardware reports to be in good condition and the power supply is pretty new and should be big enough at 500W.
I don't see any problems with FreeNAS itself when it's actually running. Based on a little research I'm looking to replace the motherboard as the primary suspect.
Looking for a microATX with at least 6 SATA3 channels available. I looked at the HW recommendation thread and none of those boards had enough SATA3s. Don't need excessive amounts of RAM, I just store audio/video media and the occasional odd file but I want faster xfer speeds from the drive to reduce any lag. Current storage is 5x3TB using RAIDZ. Any help is appreciated, thanks.
