Hi,

Looking to get new drives and build a trueNAS box.

I already have 2x Toshiba X300 and looking at the Toshiba N300.

Would it be OK to mix those 2 types in the same pools ? Specs do look very similar so i'm curious to see if the would work.

Bare in mind that this mix would be to start with in a RAID-Z2. I would eventually change out the X300 for other N300 drives.

Thanks !

Yes, you can mix different HD in your pool. For a while, FreeNAS was doing it without a word when the size were similar. Now, TrueNAS is more rigid about that but you can force it to accept the small difference. Of course, whichever is the smallest will dictate the space that will be used by others and the rest will not be used at all.

I'd anticipate the a very small difference as both are 6TB and be acceptable.
Thanks for your input
