I installed MiniDLNA, set permissions so it could read my media files and... nothing. I couldn't see it on the network. Now, being an enterprising sort I checked the log and it gets up to
Code:
[2012/10/18 09:26:11] playlist.c:126: warn: Parsing playlists...

and just stops. So I ran dmesg | tail and got
Code:
pid 16732 (minidlna), uid 40002: exited on signal 3

But my google-fu gets me nothing. Does anybody know what's happening here?

[edit]Oh, and it's 8.3 RC1 and minidlna-1.0.24_1-amd64. Also I just tried it again for gits and shiggles and this time the log ended at
Code:
[2012/10/18 09:57:34] playlist.c:126: warn: Parsing playlists...
[2012/10/18 09:57:34] minissdp.c:815: error: connect("/var/run/minissdpd.sock"): No such file or directory[2012/10/18 09:57:34] minidlna.c:1009: fatal: Failed to connect to MiniSSDPd. EXITING

*Update*
The server had a meltdown and I reinstalled everything. Now I can see that minidlna is running but nothing can see it. I can get to the status page and it's seeing my media but that does me no good.

So, learning experience. Anyone else having this problem who has Fios should know that the actiontec router they give you filters multicast to wireless clients by default. Just the wireless ones, if I'd been using a wired network I never would have noticed anything wrong.
