Tested it and works great! I'm sooo happy!! Woohoooo :D thank you Dan, you are truly a freenas wizard!

I have a 6x 3tb raidz2 ran it and it also seems to be working saving the drive list, but I won't test it on my real data pool, when one disk eventually fails, will see :)

At first it was failing with the raidz2, but it was because I had to upgrade my pool, after upgrading, no error.

This makes my freenas tank ( I come from a small ts140 cramped with six disk, to this beast of a chassis) perfect! I always wanted the failed led feature and it seemed that only a propietary nas would have it, something my friend's will brag about. I bought the sc826 hoping to get that working and thanks to Dan it works in freenas! ... Now I just need to quiet this dragon!

Understandable, though you can test it easily enough without actually removing anything. Just zpool offline poolname gptid/<blah>, and then run zpscan.sh. If it picks up on the offline disk properly and lights up the LED, you can put the disk back online with zpool online poolname gptid/<blah>. It will resilver for a few seconds, and you'll be done. I have tested it a few times on my main production pool, though I don't plan to make a habit of it.

I could do it with the GUI using the offline, online button, isn't that the same?

Indeed it is. I don't remember the online button being there in the past--maybe it's been added in recent FreeNAS versions (or maybe I missed it when I was looking). Yes, that would work fine, and would probably be the better way to go.

Now resource-ified here, with the script uploaded rather than inline, and a few tweaks. Further discussion probably belongs in the associated discussion thread.
