Mac Mini can only access TimeMachine...

I click on Finder on my Mac Mini (2014), click on freenas under locations, and I get the following:

homes
MichaelcRobinson
Videos

I can click on Videos and I see the share just fine. If I click on homes or MichaelcRobinson though, I get the following error:

The operation can't be completed because the original item for "MichaelcRobinson" can't be found.

What is the original item the error refers to?

Were you able to figure this out? If not, which FreeNAS version are you running (from System -> Information)?

I'm running FreeNAS 11.2. I've given up on TimeMachine, takes up a lot of space and errs out too much. I want to use BackupPC, but I'm not sure how to set up clients for it. AFS shares, new ones I set up, seem to be working fine now. It's samba that's acting strangely. If I click on other locations in Fedora 29 gnome's file manager I get:

freenas ( file sharing )
freenas ( remote login )
freenas ( file sharing )

Click on the first freenas ( file sharing ):

and I'm prompted for username and password...

Enter michael and appropriate password...

Michael's home
Shared
Videos
Wedding_Photos

and all of the above shares work...

If I click on freenas ( remote login )...

I get an inappropriate share of the root filesystem of the freenas server... which should not be accessible at all.
The share is called freenas.local.

I click on the last or second freenas ( file sharing ):

Wedding_Photos
Videos
Shared
homes

... the first three of these can be clicked on okay, but homes cannot be...

Click on homes, the following error comes up: "Failed to mount Windows share: No such file or directory"

Click on Wedding_Photos... I get something along the lines of Wedding_Photos on freenas.local.

Can I suppress the second freenas ( file sharing ) completely?

For freenas ( remote login ) can I control where in the filesystem the mount is from? If I'm michael, it should be michael's home directory...
or maybe it should be a location that reveals all the shares michael is allowed to access.
I'm not sure that Videos should be a valid share as I'm trying to use emby which by the way doesn't work. I go to the proper local ip address for emby and when I click on a video to play it, it doesn't play.

I want the Videos share to be read only unless you enter a specific credential and read/write for emby, is there a way to do that? The Shared share should be read only for anything you yourself didn't put there. If I'm michael and user eileen puts something on Shared, I shouldn't be able to modify or remove it... How would I go about implementing a share with this property?

In Summary:

AFS shares seem to be working properly though I need to learn how to use BackupPC instead of TimeMachine where I don't know how to set up any clients for it. I've given up on TimeMachine, it loses the share too often and it seems to consume a ton of space. I only have 10 Terabytes...

The Samba shares aren't working right where I want some of the shares that should be accessible from different users to have limited access permissions. If user michael puts something on Shared for example, user eileen can't remove or modify it. If user videoadmin puts something or modifies something in the Videos share, michael and eileen should have read only access to everything in Videos. I want the second freenas ( file sharing ) to disappear, the one with the homes share that doesn't work.

I also want to change where you mount to in the filesystem when you click on freenas ( remote login ), nobody should get a share of the root filesystem of the freenas 11.2 server lest they screw it up...

I would like to implement DNS on my network so I can do emby.mw.robinson-west.com for example and gitlab.mw.robinson-west.com and backuppc.mw.robinson-west.com instead of having to log into the freenas server as root and see what IP addresses these services are on...
I prefer to get away from freenas.local, there's no gurantee that .local will mean private in the future as someone could use .local on the Internet.

So far I haven't been able to resolve the Samba issues where there is an inappropriate mount, I gave up on TimeMachine, and I have yet to learn how to use BackupPC instead of TimeMachine.
