So far I've read the docs on upgrading and have downloaded the FreeNAS-9.1.1-RELEASE-x64.iso and FreeNAS-9.1.1-RELEASE-x64.8_0_x_LEGACY_GUI_Upgrade.xz. My question is about using the .xz file. Where do I put it? When I go to systems->settings, the settings screen is blank. There is no general/advanced/email/ssl section. It is like the page just isn't there. Maybe I can just format the old nas 8.0.2 flash drive, install the new version, and ignore the gui upgrade.

You might want to try a different browser. Some browsers have problems rendering the old version of FreeNAS.

Or, just burn the ISo to a CD, boot from the CD and do the "upgrade" option.

A different gui worked. I guess IE is good for something after all. If burn the iso, that means the FreeNAS-9.1.1-RELEASE-x64.iso right?
