Hello, I'm new to the forums. My previous foray into freeNAS included old used computer parts and some new HD's ( 6 - WD 2TB Green). It rand without issue for about 4 years. It then promptly died.
My Goals
Build a more stable NAS box. I have for the first time dedicated small closet to put all my equipment in. So this will be my first time putting a rack together. I am still looking for short rack to put The NAS and everything else on so any suggestions are appreciated (I check craigslist periodically). I estimate I can fit a 20U tall cabinet with no problems.
NAS requirements
1) 12 bays 3 pools in raidz2 ( I don't see my self needing more drives based on pass and future use)
2) Rack mounted (Quiet as possible case with lot of air flow)
4) Video Streaming to multiple machines
5) No trans-coding
Possible Build (I'm open to suggestions, also if you see any glaring problems)
HD : WD Red WD40EFRX 4TB (Only plan on buying 4 at the moment)
