I have a Chelsio 110-1088-30 10GB dual-Port PCI-e card that I have connected to a mikrotik switch that supports 10GB. Currently connected via Twinaxial cable to the switch for both ports. I have no issues with a single link but I do have them setup with static IP's.

My question is why will FreeNAS not allow me to LACP these two? LACP is supported by my Mikrotik switch for both of these ports but when I go to Link Aggregation it only shows my dual lan ports on the mother which I dont even have configured. I am guessing FreeNAS doesnt support?

You need to setup "Link Aggregations" before you add the "Interface". Once you do that, then you will be able to add the Interface (which is whatever you designated).

I usually do this at the physical console first... As to if your switch and rest of you equipment support LACP, that I am not sure...

One suggestion based on data center experience, if you have another network port, like 1Gbps,
set it up in a different sub-net for management purposes. Thus, you can destroy your 10Gbps
network configuration and establish the LACP on the 2 x 10Gbps ports without using the
physical console.

Then, if anything goes wrong with your LACP, (switch or card), you have a side door that
lets you manage the server. You can even use this extra sub-net for certain other things like
DNS, SSH, NTP, etc... that don't need high performance.

Speak for yourself, MY NTP needs 40Gbps.
That's NTP = Network Time Protocol, not NNTP, Network News Transfer Protocol.

For NTP, 1Gbps is more than enough. For NNTP, quad 40Gbps is not enough for all
the, uhm, shared pictures and videos sent.

But lets not digress. My original comment was valid. If you use LACP and have another
free port, set it up as a management port on a separate sub-net.

Actually, it is. You're talking to someone who still runs NNTP transit and readers in-house, since we're the home of the Diablo news package, plus we are a donor to NTP.ORG.

Your opinions of bandwidth sufficiency might change if ever you suffered one ot the NTP amplification attacks... but I was mostly just being silly.
