Did you enable "Memory Remapping" in the BIOS of your P5B board? You need that to see all 4GiB

totally forgot about that.
had to jumper the bios to reset it as my initial boot told me i had an invalid over clock. that did fix it i have 4gig ram now. i will upgrade to 8gig in a bit.

you're still going to need more if you want to run jails/plugins. The 8GB minimum is just for a basic filer.

If you want to run FreeNAS without the risk of data loss or lousy user experience then it's time for some new hardware.
