Hi all

I want to make sure that I have iSCSI setup correctly with multipath between my FreeNAS and 2 ESXi servers.

First the FreeNAS server: The FreeNAS server has a dual port 10GbE card each port is on a different subnet/VLAN, the iSCSI portal is linked to both 10GbE ports, there is one iSCSI target all the extents are associated to.

ESXi Servers: Both servers have a dual port 10GbE card, each port is on a different subnet/VLAN, they are setup as separate vSwitches and VMKernel ports.

VLAN2: 192.168.2.x/24
VLAN3: 192.168.3.x/24

Here is a basic diagram of how it's all connected up:

If someone could confirm for me that this is setup correctly for multipath that would be great. Thanks.

Here are some tips on iSCSI multipath. Basically says "you need to make sure that you got at least two NICs dedicated for iSCSI, using separate networks (and switches to be protected against switch failures)."

Thanks Artion.

Looks like I do have it setup correctly and I've noticed my ESXi servers utilising both NIC's on the FreeNAS server for the first time in a while!
